Clear boundaries for organizational coaching

When an organization funds coaching, three parties are involved: the leader, the organizational sponsor and the coach. Objectives, reporting expectations and confidentiality boundaries are agreed upon in writing before coaching begins.

PranaCare’s executive coaching is distinct from counselling and psychological treatment. Counselling is not provided within organizational coaching engagements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about scope, fit, confidentiality and investment

Is this counselling or therapy?
No. Executive coaching focuses on leadership responsibilities, workplace relationships, professional decisions, communication and future-oriented action. It does not provide psychological diagnosis or mental-health treatment.
Will the coach understand my industry?
Executive coaching does not replace your technical or industry expertise. The coach helps you examine assumptions, understand stakeholder dynamics, improve leadership behaviour and make more deliberate decisions. Relevant organizational context is established during intake.
I already have a mentor or an HR department. How is coaching different?
Mentors generally share experience and advice. HR represents the organization and its people systems. An executive coach provides a confidential, structured and independent thinking partnership focused on your leadership development and actions.
I only have one urgent problem. Do I need a long engagement?
No. The two-week Executive Clarity Intensive is designed for one immediate decision, difficult conversation or leadership challenge.
Will my employer know what I discuss?
Individual coaching conversations remain confidential, subject to the coaching agreement and applicable professional or legal obligations. For employer-sponsored engagements, objectives and reporting boundaries are agreed upon before coaching begins.
How will we know whether coaching is working?
The engagement begins with defined leadership and organizational objectives. Progress is reviewed through observable actions, decisions, conversations and agreed indicators rather than vague promises of transformation.
Can coaching happen virtually?
Yes. Virtual executive coaching is available throughout Alberta. In-person coaching may also be available in Edmonton, subject to scheduling and location.
The investment is significant. How do I evaluate it?
Executive coaching is intended for leaders whose decisions and behaviour affect employees, clients, operations and organizational results. The Leadership Fit Call helps determine whether the situation, scope and expected value justify the investment.
I tried coaching before and it did not help. Why would this be different?
The Fit Call will explore what was missing from the previous experience. PranaCare coaching uses defined objectives, workplace application, progress reviews and accountability rather than relying only on reflective conversations.
