Structured support for conflict, transition and difficult decisions.
Mediation and conflict-consulting services for families, co-parents, couples, teams and organizations seeking clearer communication, informed participation and more workable next steps.
Based in Edmonton · Family mediation available through the appropriate Alberta service process · Organizational consultation available across Alberta
Mediation is a neutral process service. It is not counselling, legal representation or a substitute for independent legal advice. Organizational conflict consulting is not a formal workplace investigation.
Conflict is rarely only about the surface issue.
A disagreement may begin with one decision, but the difficulty often grows through repeated communication patterns, different interpretations, accumulated frustration, changing responsibilities or uncertainty about what should happen next.
When family relationships, parenting responsibilities, shared decisions, workplace roles or organizational consequences are involved, it can become difficult to have a productive conversation without additional structure.
Professional support may help participants slow the process down, clarify the issues requiring attention and determine whether dialogue, planning, mediation, consultation or another service is appropriate.
People and organizations may seek support when:
- The same disagreement keeps returning
- Conversations quickly become defensive, avoidant or unproductive
- A separation or family transition requires practical discussion
- Co-parents need clearer expectations or planning
- Important decisions are being delayed
- Communication has become strained or unreliable
- Family roles or responsibilities are changing
- Workplace tension is affecting coordination or performance
- Leaders are uncertain whether mediation, facilitation or consulting is needed
- Participants want structure without beginning a legal proceeding through PranaCare
Four services for different conflict situations.
Conflict in a family and conflict in an organization require different professional processes. Review the four services below before deciding how to begin.
Mediation Services
Neutral, structured process support for people who need help identifying issues, communicating perspectives and exploring possible decisions or agreements.
Appropriate use depends on informed participation, service suitability and the circumstances of everyone involved.
When conflict is intense, recurring or difficult to contain, additional preparation, pacing or professional coordination may be required. Mediation is not appropriate in every situation, and service suitability is considered before proceeding.
Separation & Transition Support
Structured support for couples and families navigating separation, changing relationships, family transitions and the practical conversations that accompany significant change.
The process may address communication, transition planning, shared responsibilities and appropriate next steps. It does not provide legal advice.
When conflict is intense, recurring or difficult to contain, additional preparation, pacing or another process may be recommended depending on the situation.
Co-Parenting Planning
Support for parents working to clarify routines, communication expectations, responsibilities, transitions between homes and child-focused planning.
PranaCare may help parents develop practical proposals. Parents may wish to obtain independent legal advice before relying on or formalizing any arrangement.
Organizational Conflict Consulting
Structured consultation for organizations experiencing active workplace tension, damaged working relationships, recurring communication breakdowns or conflict affecting coordination and performance.
This service supports assessment, consultation and facilitated organizational action. It is not counselling, legal advice or a formal workplace investigation.
Begin by determining whether the service fits the situation.
Mediation and conflict consulting should not begin with assumptions about the problem or the outcome. The first step is to understand the general context, clarify the requested service and identify any concerns affecting suitability.
Initial Inquiry
The person, family member or organizational sponsor provides a general description of the situation without submitting unnecessary confidential, legal, clinical or personnel information.
Service-Fit Review
PranaCare considers whether mediation, separation support, co-parenting planning, organizational conflict consulting or another professional service may be more appropriate.
Scope and Participation
The purpose, participants, professional role, fees, confidentiality expectations, information handling and limitations are explained before services begin.
Structured Process
Appropriate conversations, mediation sessions, consultations or facilitated meetings take place according to the agreed service scope.
Next Steps
Participants identify decisions, proposals, commitments, referrals or further professional support where appropriate.
Beginning an inquiry does not create a mediation, counselling, consulting or legal relationship. The applicable professional relationship begins only after suitability, scope and written terms have been established.
Steadiness, structure and clarity without oversimplifying the conflict.
This page uses one practical approach to support thoughtful communication, planning and next steps within the appropriate professional scope.
Emotional regulation, cultural context, family roles, organizational power and relationship history may be considered when relevant. These considerations support thoughtful process design; they do not guarantee agreement or resolution.
- 1. Establish the processClarify the purpose, participants, roles, expectations and limits of the service.

- 3. Support constructive communicationCreate a structured opportunity for relevant concerns and perspectives to be expressed and understood.

Mediation, counselling, legal services and investigations have different purposes.
Depending on the circumstances, participants or organizations may be encouraged to obtain independent legal, clinical, human-resources, safety or investigative support.
Mediation
A neutral process that supports communication, negotiation and informed decision-making. The mediator does not represent either participant and does not decide the outcome.
Counselling
Therapeutic support focused on wellbeing, emotional experience, relationships and personal or relational goals. Counselling is not provided within a mediation process unless separately arranged under an appropriate agreement and professional scope.
Legal Advice
Advice about legal rights, obligations, court processes or the legal effect of proposed arrangements. PranaCare does not provide legal advice or legal representation.
Workplace Investigation
A formal process intended to examine allegations, evidence, credibility, policy or legal findings. Organizational conflict consulting does not replace an appropriately qualified workplace investigation.
Begin with the process that fits the situation.
Families and co-parents may review the mediation services or book through PranaCare’s secure Jane system. Leaders and organizational sponsors should request a consultation before beginning an engagement. If the appropriate pathway is unclear, use Start Here.
