The Concern

When your child seems caught in the middle

Most parents come to me because something has shifted in their child.

They've become quieter.
More guarded.
More anxious.
Less expressive.
Less open about transitions or routines.

Children — especially ages 12+ — often try to protect both parents. They don't want to upset anyone. They don't want to choose sides. They don't want to make things worse.

But they still feel everything.

This process gives your child a safe, neutral place to express what's happening inside them — without pressure, without judgment, and without placing them in the middle.

A Story

A story that might feel familiar

A 13-year-old I worked with recently said:

“I don't talk about transitions anymore because I don't want to make either of them sad.”

She wasn't angry. She wasn't choosing sides. She was overwhelmed — trying to protect both parents at the same time.

Once she had a safe space to speak freely, her parents finally understood what she needed to feel settled again.

This is what the Child Voice & Safety process is designed to do.

The Service

What this service is

The Child Voice & Safety Report is a non-diagnostic, culturally informed process that helps you understand your child's emotional experience.

It is not a psychological assessment, custody evaluation, or diagnostic report. It is a gentle, structured way to hear your child — without placing them in the middle.
Supportive during
  • Separation or divorce
  • High-conflict co-parenting
  • Parenting schedule changes
  • Mediation or court involvement
  • Immigration, relocation, or cultural pressure
  • Family transitions or loyalty conflicts
The Research

Why your child's voice matters

Research shows that when children feel genuinely heard — without pressure — they experience:

Lower anxiety
Better emotional regulation
Healthier adjustment after separation
Stronger relationships with both parents

Children have the right to express their views in ways that are safe, culturally respectful, and free from pressure. This service turns that principle into a practical, emotionally safe process for Alberta families.
